What do you think about the latest development in the Middle East after the US killed a high ranked Iranian general in Iraq?

There won’t be WWIII or any nukes launched.

I see the Iraqi parliament has today passed a resolution calling for foreign troops to be expelled from country. That sounds good to me.....they need us, we don’t need them or the expense.

What is certain is that there will be a retaliation attack of some description by Iran on US assets somewhere in the world.

There has been increased air activity in the region with a lot of USAF aircraft heading in the direction of the Middle East over the last week or so (mid air refuelling aircraft and reconnaissance aircraft etc).

I’m far from Trumps biggest fan but once again he’s gone in with a drone attack and removed a threat. I applaud him for that.

The Iranians can disturb the shipping in the Persian Gulf and maybe launch some terror attacks on US interests in the ME. I doubt it will be a full out attack from either side

The Royal Navy has sent a couple of warships in that direction presumably to provide escort during passage?

yes, I read the RN shall provide with escort, I guess other Western navies will send warships to the gulf (if they aren't there already)

That can provoke the Iranians to attack them if they see any US Navy ships passing the Hormuz

Btw, what did the Iranian general do in Iraq?

Would the Iranians be stupid enough to attack a U.S. aircraft carrier strike group?

Soleimani commanded militias across the Middle East who killed and injured coalition forces.

I doubt the US sends their aircraft carrier group through the straight of Hormuz, the carrier group will stay within striking distance in the Indian Ocean. I wonder if the US will react the same if any of its allies being attacked? The US accuses Iran for the drone attack on the Saudi oil refinery. Iran may tries to do something like that again. I think the Iranian retaliation will be by proxy somewhere in the ME. They may also attack European oil tankers in the Gulf. They "captured" one a while back.
