I have spoken to a few WW2 veterans in my town. I have the utmost respect for the things they saw and endured during their service. Makes modern day warfare look easy.

Or they had it easier when they knew who and where the enemy was. On the other hand, the enormous scale of WWII and some of the military operations during it must have been really scary. Standing in a Higgins boat and approaching the beaches of Normandy must have been really scary

But they mostly didn’t volunteer to serve and had no where near the extensive training that modern soldiers receive. We also have effective body armour, modern technology and air support etc.

Maybe not 2nd world war, but it's interesting talking to the old and bold on my military police forum, a lot of the surviving guys served on national service in places like Aden/Egypt etc. 😉

I feel sorry for service personnel, having to put up with so much crap caused by POLITICIANS who have little or no experience, and very little knowledge.
To most of them, people are just pawns on a chess board, that you can sacrifice with little or no censure.

It isn't service personnel who start wars... despite armed conflict resolution being their raison d'etre, it is always politicians serving their own agenda.
